Removable insoles
Great grip
Made in Spain
The last is broad at the toes and closer at the heel, and it is the heel that holds the foot: there are no laces to correct the fit. Arizona gives a little across the width with wear, but the length stays put, so choose by the length of your foot rather than by first impressions. With a medium-weight wool sock it goes on without pinching.
Minimalist footwear
Zero drop from heel to toe and 8 mm of soft rubber underneath. The foot lands flat, the toes spread sideways as you load your weight, and the arch works with every push-off. Going uphill the ankle travels through more degrees than a raised heel allows, and for the first few weeks you will feel it in your calves: that work is what builds the muscles of the foot. Start with short outings and build up.
Materials and construction
The upper is stitched to the insole all the way round (360º Strobel sewing), a build that leaves the sole of the foot free: the boot bends exactly where the foot bends and twists on its own axis in your hands. Inside, a lining of 80% leather and 20% microfibre, with a 4.5 mm microfibre insole that takes up the day's moisture. The 8 mm soft rubber sole has a low-lug pattern that grips wet earth and timber. Arizona is an oiled leather: it takes up water slowly, shows every scuff and accepts a coat of colourless grease two or three times a season to keep the tone. Wide comfort last through the toe area.
